Black Lives Matter Community Forum
On March 22, 2016, the day that Coming Together had a Black Lives Matter banner put up across S. Pleasant St in Amherst, MA, we organized and sponsored a Community Forum attended by about 175 people, at the First Congregational Church in Amherst.  The Amherst Media complete video of this much-praised, remarkable event can be seen on Amherst Media if you click here.

Being Invisible – Being Hyper-Visible: Living in Amherst
Coming Together sponsored this panel of local people of color.  The panelists shared their personal experiences of  growing up in, and/or living in, Amherst.    This was a special opportunity to learn how these members of our community experience racism here. The panelists included Janaya Collins, Josh Odam, and David Ke; facilitated by Sovann-Malis Loeung and Caroline Murray.  They engaged the audience in thinking about how we have all felt (in)visible at times.   This panel included some younger people than are often heard in the public discourse here.  The event occurred March 24, 2015, but the comments shared continue to have power and relevance.
