Video of Multi-Racial Panel – Being Invisible – Being Hyper-Visible: Living in Amherst

The Coming Together project sponsored a multi-racial panel of local people,  titled Being Invisible – Being Hyper-Visible: Living in Amherst.

The panelists shared their personal experiences of  growing up in, and/or living in, Amherst.    This was a special opportunity to learn how these members of our community experience racism here. The panelists included Janaya Collins, Josh Odam, and David Ke; facilitated by Sovann-Malis Loeung and Caroline Murray.  They engaged the audience in thinking about how we have all felt (in)visible at times.  The overarching goal is for us to come together to create a more equitable and inclusive community.  This panel included some younger people than are often heard in the public discourse here.  The event occurred March 24, 2015, but the comments shared continue to have power and relevance.
