Amherst Sanctuary City Campaign

Do you want to do something to stand against the hate-mongering and divisiveness of the incoming administration?   Here is a concrete action step you can take today!

Since the presidential election, many cities and towns across the country are declaring themselves to be “sanctuary cities”, where immigrants will be safeguarded regardless of their immigration status and there will be no local cooperation with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE).

Given the current political climate, we think it is important for Amherst to reaffirm its status as a Sanctuary City and to update its procedures and directives to provide immigrants in our community with the best possible protections, just as many other cities and towns are now doing.
